Stepping Out in the Nude: Ballet Flats

July 29, 2015

Nude shoes have stolen the hearts and soles of women everywhere! In SuthinGirl’s new series, Stepping Out In the Nude, we’ll explore a variety of vixens gloriously featured in the buff; from Ballet Flats to Classic Pumps, from Peep Toe and d’Orsay Pumps to Sandals.

Up first, we’re shining the fashion spotlight on Ballet Flats! Images of this graceful shoe and how to pair it with different looks are dancing all over the pages of VOGUE’s online dispatch VOGUE Daily in the articles Everyone Loves a Ballet Instagram: Shop the Look and 8 Pairs of Shoes That Every Woman Should Own.

Modeled after the footwear worn by ballerinas, the ballet flat has been made chic over the years by fashion icons including the inimitable Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and über sexy Brigitte Bardot. As today’s paparazzi pics reveal, it’s still a favorite of celebs in their everyday life. SuthinGirl lives in hers when she travels!

With over a dozen different pairs of nude shoes lining my shelves, I am appointing myself your Nude Shoe Guru and will enlighten you on the many virtues of going au naturel with your footwear!

Those of us girls with less lengthy legs know that slipping into a nude shoe gives the effect of another precious few inches of gorgeous gams. Nude shoes can be worn year round and go with everything. They are an essential closet staple and should be given pride of place in your wardrobe!

Not sayin’ I have a nude shoe addiction, buuut if the shoe fits…

For SuthinGirl, that’s basically the lightest bisque, blush or beige you can find. For my girlfriends with tantalizing tans or beautiful brown skin, we’re talking deeper, richer shades.

Shut your mouth! A nude shoe is NOT boring! Leopard, cork, metallics, and a variety of textures like suede and skins can serve as nudes and give the leg-lengthening effect while providing an effortless pairing to any outfit!

Ready to splurge on a lighter colored nude ballet flat? This is a gorrrrgeous shoe for you! Get the same look without spending as much here and this one is ON SALE through Monday, August 3! Love the pointy toe ballet flat? Me, too! Splash out on this beautiful pair or get the designer look without the high price with this one ON SALE through Monday, August 3 and this one.

“I have always loved fashion because it’s a great way to express your mood. And I’m definitely a shoe lover. The right pair of shoes can change the feel of an outfit, and even change how a woman feels about herself. A woman can wear confidence on her feet with a high stiletto, or slip into weekend comfort with a soft ballet flat.” ♥ Fergie

Your summertime tan will look beautiful in this nude ballet flat and I love the leopard of this one. Both are SuthinGirl FAVES. This one is a total splurge but just such a classic!! For a pointy toe nude in a deeper shade, this one and this one are fabulous with all the stud detail and contrasting trim but if you don’t want to invest as much this one in patent leather is a classic and this one has leopard and stud detail much like the first two more expensive choices!

Deeper shades of brown skin will rock this luxury ballet flat but the same look can be achieved for a lot less with this pretty pair. I love the stretch in this flat and have had a pair of these for a couple of years and love the leopard as well as the comfy fit!

Olivia Palermo looks pretty darn happy in her nude ballet flats!

(Or maybe it’s the cute guy’s arm around her shoulder? Nah, it’s definitely the shoes.)
